Jeremiah Johnson

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jeremiah Johnson (b.1974) was raised on a fruit and flower farm in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania.  As a child Jeremiah spent his days playing in the woods and his nights drawing.  Once he graduated from high school he left the farm to become an artist in the big city of Philadelphia.  Johnson received his BFA from Tyler School of Art of Temple University and eventually went on to get his MFA in print, paper and book arts from Syracuse University.  A few more years of living in Philadelphia took its toll on Jeremiah's health so he soon found himself back home in Williamsport.  He currently  teaches printmaking at Lycoming College and works in the studio making art about culture, folklore, and survival.

Johnson began work on a large 12x36 ft mural at the Williamsport High School (thanks to the Williamsport Education Foundation) with the help of over 200 high school students.

Two separate pieces were accepted into the Art of the State: PA 2011 show.  This is the second year in a row, and the 3rd year my work was accepted.
